No. Breakerbox has three tools: a load calculator for panel upgrades, EV charger installs, and heat pump additions; NEC Chat for code lookups with actual code citations; and a line diagram tool for drawing circuits. 

Nope, just sign up and start using it. If you want a walkthrough first, we're happy to set one up, but it's not a requirement. If you're looking for a custom project, we can scope your project over a call.

Most users get setup and running under 5 minutes. The tools are built around how you already think about the job. You're putting in what you already know, not learning software logic.

Yes. It tracks NEC Article 220 in the 2023 edition. Every calculation shows its inputs and results so you can check your work before you sign off.

Many of our customers submit the PDF report directly with their permit package. The report shows every input, every result, and the code reference behind it. You have the final say, but Breakerbox gives you the documentation to back up your numbers.

NEC Chat cites the actual code section it's referencing. But you're the licensed electrician and that doesn't change. Use it to look things up faster, not to replace your judgment. If something looks off, check other sources and talk to your team.

Base NEC only. Local amendments and AHJ interpretations vary too much to cover reliably. Always cross-check with your local authority for jurisdiction-specific requirements.

Yes. Breakerbox runs in any browser - phone, tablet, or desktop. Nothing to download or install.

No. Unfortunately Breakerbox requires an internet connection. We're working towards offline coverage in 2026, but for now - get a satellite or something.

Standard gives you access to all three tools with monthly limits: 10 load calculations, 5 NEC lookups per day, and up to 3 saved diagrams and 5 saved projects. Unlimited removes all limits and adds priority support and PDF report exports. If you're doing more than a handful of jobs a month, Unlimited pays for itself quickly.

A load calc only counts toward your monthly limit when you complete it. Drafts and works-in-progress don't count. Only finalized calculations count.

You'll see a prompt to upgrade to Unlimited. Your existing work stays accessible, but you can't run new calculations until you upgrade or your limit resets the following month.

It's an introductory offer to let you try the entire software without the full cost. After the first month, Unlimited renews at $49/month. You can change your plan anytime before then.

Not currently. We'll be rolling this out in 2026 for those customers who want some % off over a longer time period. 

Yes. Upgrade or downgrade anytime from your account settings. Upgrades are prorated (you get credited with the unused portion of the month you already paid for) and take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.

All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through Stripe. ACH is available for custom-software projects. We don't support Apple Pay or Google Pay, and we won't. We are not Walmart.

Yes. No contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancel from your account settings and you'll keep access through the end of your billing period.

Your data stay in your account for 30 days after cancellation so you can export anything you need. After that, your data is deleted.

PDF export is included in Unlimited. On Standard, you can view and reference your work inside Breakerbox but can't export reports.
