Who We Are

Breakerbox, LLC ("Breakerbox," "we," "our," or "us") operates the Breakerbox platform at getbreakerbox.com — software built for electricians that includes a load calculator, NEC code chatbot, and line diagram builder. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our services, and what choices you have about that information.

By using Breakerbox, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways: directly from you, and automatically through your use of the service.

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Company name and business information
  • Billing and payment information
  • Project and property details you enter into load calculations or diagrams
  • Questions and messages you send to the code chatbot
  • Communications you send to our support team
  • Feedback, suggestions, or feature requests you submit to us

Information we collect automatically:

  • IP address (used to enforce rate limits on the code chatbot)
  • Browser type and operating system
  • Pages visited, features used, and time spent in the app
  • Session data and cookies
  • Referring URLs and search terms used to find the service

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Breakerbox service
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Create and maintain your account
  • Send account-related communications such as receipts, security alerts, and support responses
  • Send product updates and feature announcements (you can opt out at any time)
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Analyze usage trends to understand how the service is used and where to improve it
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your personal information for targeted advertising or sell it to third parties for marketing purposes.

AI Features

Our code chatbot uses a third-party AI service to generate responses to your questions. When you submit a query, that query is transmitted to our AI service provider to process and return a response. We do not use your data to train AI models. The AI service provider's own data handling practices govern data it receives during inference; we encourage you to review their privacy policy if you have questions about how inference data is handled.

Do not submit sensitive personal information — such as Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, or protected health information — through the chatbot.

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: We share data with third-party service providers who help us operate the platform, including hosting and infrastructure, user authentication, analytics, payment processing, and AI inference. These providers are contractually required to use your data only to perform services on our behalf and may not use it for their own purposes.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or government authority, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Breakerbox, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: If Breakerbox is involved in a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, or other business transfer, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
  • With your consent: We may share your information in other ways if you give us explicit permission to do so.

Aggregated and Anonymized Data

We may use and share data that has been aggregated or anonymized in a way that cannot reasonably identify you. For example, we may publish statistics about overall usage patterns or feature adoption. This aggregated data is not personal information and is not subject to the protections described in this policy.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide you the service. If you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days of receiving your written deletion request sent to privacy@getbreakerbox.com. Certain records may be retained longer where required by law — for example, billing and tax records we are required to keep for a minimum period under applicable law. Aggregated or anonymized data derived from your account may be retained indefinitely.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls limiting who can view your data, and secure infrastructure managed by our service providers. We regularly review our security practices and update them as appropriate.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@getbreakerbox.com. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information in your account
  • Request deletion of your personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations
  • Request a portable copy of your data in a commonly used format
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send, or by contacting us directly
  • Object to or restrict certain uses of your information

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:

  • Session cookies: Required to keep you logged into your account while you use the service. These expire when you close your browser.
  • Analytics cookies: Used to measure how the service is used, which features are most accessed, and where users encounter problems. This data is used to improve the service.
  • Preference cookies: Used to remember settings and preferences you have configured.

You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Blocking session cookies will prevent you from logging in. Blocking analytics or preference cookies will not affect your core ability to use the service but may affect personalization features.

Do Not Track

Some browsers transmit "Do Not Track" signals to websites. Because there is no industry standard for how such signals should be interpreted, Breakerbox does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals. We will revisit this position if an industry standard is established.

Children's Privacy

Breakerbox is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. Third-Party Links and Services

The Breakerbox website and service may contain links to third-party websites or services that we do not operate. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third party and encourage you to review the privacy policies of any site you visit outside of Breakerbox.

Feedback

If you submit feedback, suggestions, ideas, or feature requests to us, we may use that input to improve the service without any obligation to compensate you or keep it confidential, unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the service, or applicable law. If we make a material change, we will notify you at least 30 days in advance by email or through a prominent notice in the app. The updated policy will include a revised "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
